Trying Something New
I'm going to try something new.
I got a hankering to just publish a book.
I'm really feeling that Samson story from yesterday.
I want to finish it out as a quick novella and just publish it. I want it to have a real pulp vibe. I wanna just write and publish without thinking about it too much.
It's gonna be significantly of lower quality than I really want to do. I'm going to skip some editing steps. But perfection isn't the goal. The goal is telling a good, entertaining story that can bring joy and inspire hope.
If I go for an edited masterpiece, it will never come out.
I've been working on/sitting on 4/6 books for a Dimensions Defenders series. I want to have the whole thing finished and perfect before publishing.
Well, because of that, I haven't published anything in like three years.
I guess I kinda published DD #1 already, but still.
I wanna work faster. I wanna write, fine tune a bit, publish, and move on to the next thing.
There's a pretty common premise of diminishing returns, where the last 20% costs the same as the first 80%. I want to publish 85%-90%. It doesn't need to be perfect. It just needs to be available.
Maybe I'm wrong in having that philosophy. Maybe it's the key. We'll just have to try it to find out.
So, yeah. That's the plan. I'm gonna work more on just publishing more often.
Kinda like this blog/ journal thing.
I just need to actually get stuff out into the world.
Write consistently. Publish consistently. And who knows, maybe my dreams will come true.
So how does that effect here?
Well, I think instead of doing this, I'm going to shift to prioritizing writing fiction every day. So most days I think I'm going to just work on the fiction, and post those snippets here as I finish with them.
Once I'm done with the story, I'll edit and publish. But, here will have a sneak peek at the first draft of the story, posted the day I write each bit.
Hope you like it. Wish me luck!
