Samson The Surveyor of Justice! 2
Samson girded his loins using the sheet that was left on the table, and continued down the hallway. He came to what appeared to be a dead end. As he reached his hand out to touch the wall blocking his path, it gave way and opened to another dimly lit room similar to where he had just come from.
Samson stepped inside and the wall materialized behind him. He turned and stared, through a pane of thick glass, at an oblong cylinder floating amidst a void sprinkled with pin pricks of light.
The cylinder was a fairly uniform dusty gray-brown. Scattered across the surface were patches of green and blue. At regular intervals, there were megalithic structures that extruded from the surface. One side shined with a metallic brilliance, while the other glowed with the telltale signs of the expulsion of burning propellant.
“What in the world!?” Samson said with a breathless hum.
“Is.”
“Huh?”
“‘What is the world?‘ is the question you should be asking.”
Samson said nothing as he digested the statement.
The voice from the aether continued, “The locals refer to the planet as, ‘Glinkoes’. The dominate life forms have turned the entire planet into a generator for the gem your species calls the ‘diamond’.”
“We– Were am I?”
“You are in a Galactic Surveyors’ outpost, orbiting Glinkoes.”
“Or-bit-ing?”
“You are in space.”
“Space?”
“You are among the heavens.”
“Heaven! Yes, now it is starting to make some sense. This explains my eyes. I am humbled that my God has accepted me.”
“Well, actually… No matter. Welcome to Heaven. As for your eyes, they have been given some new, special, abilities. They can now see the whole spectrum of light, as well as record and enhance information.”
