Eating Manna

I don't have any direct quotes, but from everything I have ever consumed on writing and being creative in general, it is my understanding that the general position is that one must consume in order to create.

Your tank must be filled so-to-speak in order to be emptied out and become art.

Art and creation is taking in a whole bunch of stuff, synthesizing it in your mind combining everything together, and outputting something 'original'.

But what if that's not the only way to be creative? What if, instead of constantly consuming in order to create, we instead be still, be silent, and eat of the manna from heaven in order to sustain our creativity?

It's really hard to do that, though.

But some day I want to try it. Some day soon. I want to take some time and stop consuming creation and instead just sit and be still with the Creator and allow Him to create through me.

Maybe nothing will come of it. Maybe we really are just synthesis machines, and we cannot truly create something from nothing. But, I don't want to believe that that is true. I want to hope for creation from nothing. I want to hope in creative sustenance provided exactly, and only, when I need it.

I want to eat the manna.
