AI Disclosure

I do NOT use AI in any capacity for anything found here, or in any other area of my life.

I turn off or ignore any AI features in various products I use (search engine and my phone came with dumb AI stuff). I will go out of my way to use product and tools that do not contain AI. I do my best to consume no AI slop content, however, it's everywhere nowadays so who knows.

In the past, I have dabbled with AI as the technology began to emerge.

Here is a list of the times I have used AI in the past:

• I used DALL-E and some of the other image generators when the were first released. No of what I generated was used for any projects. It was simply to check out the fancy new technology.
• Similarly, when GPT first game out I had it write me a story just to see how capable it was. Likewise, I didn't do anything with it.
• Some time later on, I got curious and asked GPT-3 (I think) what the meaning of life was just to see what it would say. I had seen reports of it giving deep, sentient sounding answers and wanted to see for myself. It was very underwhelming.
• I have used the image generation within Substack to generate header images on a fiction blog I was trying out. I have since deleted all the images except one that was used sort of thematically in the story. (The story was about someone generating images. I generated the image after writing the story.) That image is the only piece of AI content that has made its way into any of my work.
• I have, for a long time, used Gramma and LanguageTool as my grammar checker. Gramma is a CLI tool that uses LanguageTool behind the scenes. I used LanguageTool well before LLMs were a thing. I am uncertain if, when LanguageTool introduced AI tools into their product, I ever benefited from their AI use. I have never paid for LanguageTool features, so I assume all of my grammar correction was done thought old fashion algorithms and linting, however, I cannot be certain. Because of this uncertainty, I have moved all of my grammar checking to Harper which I'm assured does not use any generative AI.

And that's it.

I have no desire to use AI in any capacity. I do enjoy algorithms and algorithmic generation, specifically of music through Sonic Pi. But, I detest generation based on training data. Even if I had a locally run AI model trained exclusively on my own writing, I still wouldn't use it for anything.
