A Small Observation of Artificial Intelligence
I think initialized monikers are doing us a great disservice.
A.I. is discussed endlessly, but we seem to forget that this intelligence is artificial.
Now, I'm not one to decry everything artificial as bad, but I think it's safe to say that natural is generally the preference.
We replace the natural color of things with artificial colors and dyes for the sake of marketability.
We replace natural flavors and sweeteners for the sake of hyperpalatability and the ability to consume more.
We are replacing natural intelligence to what end?
So that anyone can create artificial art?
So artificial workers can do superficial work?
If we use artificial intelligence to replace our natural thought, according to Descartes, our very existence is artificial.
That's not how I want to live.
You are Love.
P.S. For the Bear Community:
This was written with ignorance of the recent artificial intelligence posts. It is not meant to weigh in on that discussion. However, I'll add some short thoughts on it here.
- I'm anti artificial intelligence, clearly.
- I haven't browsed Discover for a while, but am coming back to it.
- I'm with Moonlamp and agree that indifference is the preferred response. Despite myself having a difficult time not talking about it.
- My two cents are that as a writer with no audience, I'd love to see the effect of posts linked on large platforms diminished here.
- I trust Herman and am all for curation over exclusion.
- I'm here to write my thoughts into cyberspace and to read other's bared souls. The human to machine ratio is and will always be high enough here for me to stick around. I'm not too worried by this blip. I know there are genuine people here, and that's all that matters.
